Day 11 - Erldunda to Coober Pedy
We’ll continue to retrace our steps on day 11, with the long drive back to Coober Pedy.
This is the last long drive of the trip and hopefully it will feel a bit shorter on the way back because you’ll know what to expect.
Don’t forget that there isn’t much phone coverage on this part of the trip, so make sure you download something to listen to.
Our campsite on night 11 is the only place in the world where you can camp underground. We have small tents available for anyone who would like to use them, but we need to know how many to bring. Please let us know by 19.7.24 if you would like us to bring a tent for you.
Important notes for day 11:
Please don’t allow your kids to climb or walk on the roof of Riba’s underground house, or in any other areas marked out of bounds
Don’t forget to fuel up at Kulgera, Marla and Cadney. It’s 74kms from Erldunda to Kulgera, 180kms from Kulgera to Marla, 84kms from Marla to Cadney and 155kms from Cadney to Coober Pedy
General notes for day 11
-
487 kms
Just like on the way up, this drive will probably take most of the day.
Make sure you stop for a break every couple of hours and don’t forget to fuel up at Kulgera, Marla and Cadney -
Riba's Underground Camping & Caravan Park
Our stop of the night is Riba’s Underground Camping & Caravan Park. The address is Lot 1811 William Creek Road, Coober Pedy.
The owner of the caravan park does a really interesting little tour on site each night at 7pm. It’s probably best suited to older kids and adults, although younger kids are very welcome. The cost is $28 for adults and $16 for kids.
