Days 8 and 9 - Uluru!
Days eight and nine are all about exploring Uluru. It’s an amazing place with so much to see and do.
Most people like Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) at least as much as Uluru, and often quite a bit more, so we definitely recommend driving out there. It’s about 40 minutes from the campground.
We’ve booked a cultural activity for everyone on day eight (30.7.24). It runs for about an hour, from 11am until midday. Rangers will explain the area’s indigenous culture and history in an age-appropriate way and answer questions about the park and its people.
Important notes for days eight and nine:
Don’t forget to bring your alcohol pass if you want to buy alcohol, either to take away or to have with a meal
Don’t forget to bring your park pass so you don’t have to pay to visit Uluru or Kata Tjuta

Food
There are lots of great restaurants at Yalara.
Our favourite is the Outback BBQ & Bar. It’s affordable and not too fancy, so it’s perfect for showing up in camping clothes.
They have a salad bar and you buy a cut of meat, then cook it yourself on one of their BBQs. They also have live music sometimes and there’s a little café where you can buy pizza and chips for the kids.
It’s open from 5pm – 9pm every day.
